For the hunter who wants a wide range of hunting opportunities on a variety of terrain, from lower elevation mountains, rolling hills, forests, long grass meadows to typical savanna habitat, this region is the best South Africa has to offer. With this variety of biome, you can determine which of the numerous indigenous species you wish to hunt in each area. These exclusive Kabra properties are located in the Limpopo Province, approximately three driving hours north of the Johannesburg International Airport . Though located in the foothills of the remote and pristine Waterberg Mountains , the easy ground access eliminates the hassle and cost of taking a connecting flight immediately after the international flight. Lodging consists of four en-suite two bed chalets with a common open-air kitchen, bar and braai (barbeque).

Hunting is primarily conducted on both Kabra owned and exclusively leased land. We have a total of over 30,000 exclusive acres to hunt on. All these properties are within a short 20 minute drive from the main hunting camp. The lodge property is used for bow hunting only. Archery hunters will find excellent hunting both over water and also by the spot and stalk method. Spot and Stalk bow hunting is best during the "green season", where the grass is longer and is in the March time period. Other leased properties are available as needed for a few of the specialized habitat species. We hunt South Africa the way it was supposed to be, in the very best hunting areas, giving you the best opportunity to experience the hunt. We have approximately an additional 100,000 acres of available land that we can hunt on as well when needed.

Any time a hunter travels abroad there are numerous details that, when put together, can needlessly spoil what should be a most memorable and successful endeavor. At no additional cost, we assist you over these hurdles. For example, Kabra Safaris can coordinate all aspects of your air transportation and paperwork for customs (S.A.P. 520, firearm, bow declarations etc). Too often the international hunter's return of trophies to the U. S. is frustratingly slow and encumbered with bureaucracy. As part of our service we assist in the coordination of this process. This is one aspect that separates us from other safari companies; we are both the consultant/agent and the hunting outfitter on the ground. We have a full time office in the United States and also in South Africa to coordinate your entire trip.

In the southern hemisphere, seasons are reversed; our winter is their summer, their fall our spring etc. The season to hunt the Limpopo is from March through October when the foliage is lighter, and travel conditions dry. Temperatures during the hunting season are moderately cool at night (40-50 F) with sunny days peaking in the 70-80 F range. Rains are infrequent and mosquitoes nearly non-existent during these prime months.

The variety and abundance of trophy quality animals are impressive by any standard. A typical day will provide an opportunity to see literally dozens of huntable quality animals on these properties. This is largely due to the fact that the area has been properly managed over the long term and infrequently hunted. One can readily observe white rhino, giraffe, black eagle and an occasional leopard on these properties in addition to the animals most often sought by safari hunters. Trophy quality species most available include but are not limited to Blesbuck, Bushbuck, Duiker, Gemsbok, Impala, Greater Southern Kudu, Nyala, Red Hartebeest, Waterbuck, Warthog, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Eland and Giraffe.

Our custom hunting safaris in the Limpopo region are for both rifle and bow hunters. This hunting safari area lends itself to some of the most diverse and wild hunting areas in all of South Africa. Spot and Stalk hunting is the preferred method for rifle hunters, with blind hunting or spot and stalk for bow hunters as well. Unlike most safari areas this hunt is custom done to your liking. You decide how and where you want to hunt. Our professionnal hunters will help you choose the best spot to get on the animal of your dreams. Please visit our Limpopo hunting page for more information.

Kalahari:  The hunting concession runs right up against the Botswana border, on the South African side. The vegetation consists of grass and camel thorn trees, a typical Savannah type vegetation. The animals encountered here are larger than average, due to the high percentage of natural minerals and good quality grazing. This is the area where the sought after Kalahari Springbok and Gemsbok are found. Other animals indigenous to this area, are the Red Hartebeest and Southern Greater Kudu. This area is perfect for rifle or archery hunting, as there are archery only hunting areas.  The camp is situated out in the true African bush, lodging is in African style thatch on stone buildings with all modern amenities.  Hunting is done primarily by spot and stalk, with bow hunting being done over waterholes.  When hunting the Kalahari Region you can either fly into Johannesburg and travel from there or fly into Kimberly for a shorter drive.  Experience the exciting vastness of the Eastern Kalahari where our privately owned comfortable base camp is situated near the Southern Botswana border in the North West Province of South Africa. If you are looking to go on a safari with you best chance at a huge southern greater kudu, this is where you should be looking. This Kalahari Safari area holds some of the biggest kudu in all of Africa.

Our experienced professional hunters, trackers and camp staff will ensure that your safari, in this Malaria free, game rich Kalahari savannah bushveld, will be the most thrilling experience you've ever had.

Plains game hunting on our own 25 000 acres and on surrounding areas of 80 000 acres, where Kabra Kalahari Safaris have hunting rights, provides some of the best trophy quality to be found in South Africa.

The North West Province, which borders Botswana to the north, is a semi-arid bushveld and savannah area that offers a year round, sunny climate with hot summers and mild winters. It is a summer rainfall region, with a short rainfall season from December to March.

The eastern region has a subtropical climate while the western region has a semi-desert climate. The diversity of the landscape ranges from the majestic Magaliesberg Mountain range in the east to savannah plains in the central region, to the arid plains of the Kalahari in the far western region.

Kalahari Safaris offer hunting in two regions in the North West Province. The far western Kalahari region, also known as the Molopo area, (named after the ancient Molopo River) and the central region, also known as the Great Marico area. These different areas enable us to offer a wide range of game species with excellent trophy quality. These areas are home to Eland, Sable Antelope, Tsessebe, Kudu, Gemsbok, Red Hartebeest, Warterbuck, Zebra, Blue Wildebeest, Giraffe, Bushbuck, Springbok, Impala and many others. There are also over 350 bird species to be seen.

Rifle and bow hunting are available throughout the year. Choose from our safari options, with attractive game hunting packages for plains game and/or the Big 5, or customize a safari to suit your needs.
