Shots and Vaccines:
Shots and precautions are necessary most everywhere you travel outside of the United States (if you originate from the States). Depending on the area that you are traveling to different precautions must be taken.
The areas that we hunt in South Africa (Eastern Cape, Limpopo, and Kalahari Region) are malaria free, and yellow fever free area. These areas normally require you to be current on your M.M.R., and Tetanus. We also recommend Hepatitis series as well.
Hunting in Zimbabwe you will need malaria medication or a shot.
Contact your travel physician for a current list of recommended shots.
Travel Information:
Many people consider Africa a dangerous place to travel. Most of the "problem areas" are located in central and Northern Africa with almost all of Southern Africa being very stable and safe. You are met at the airport and transported to your safari area, and you will be with a Professional Hunter, or a tour operator at all times during your safari.
If you are in a city there are many places that we would not take you, just like in any city around the world.
We will not take, or send you to a place that is not safe.
Airfare:
We work with Jill Potash, and Esplande Tours out of Boston to offer you some of the very lowest rates to Africa.
Either way we will assist you with all the travel arrangements.
Gun Permits:
Getting a rifle permit for South Africa, Zimbabwe or Namibia is very easy. We handle all your paperwork for you, so you do not need to worry about any issues.
Getting your rifle back into the United States (if this is where you originate from) is also very easy. You will need to get a declaration permit for easy entry. Contact your local Customs office to find out the easiest way to do this. In most cases you will need to travel to the office and get the forms approved in person.
Passports and Visas:
Traveling to South Africa from the United States you will need a current passport.Traveling to Zimbabwe you will need a current passport and visa.Traveling to Namibia you will need a current passport. Here is a link to a site that offers information on passports:

Gratuities:
I believe that tips are really up to the person on safari. The way I suggest looking at it is like a waitress (not the percentage though).Questions when considering the amount of a tip to your professional hunter, or tracker.
Did you get the animals that you were after, if not what were the reasons, if you did what was the trophy quality. Did he go the extra mile to put you on the animals, or to make your trip the best it could possibly be? How was the equipment, food, and how was the personality?
Dip and Pack and Shipping of Trophies:
This is another expense that is covered by the hunter. It can really vary depending on how many animals you get, and what animals they are. We can provide you with a ballpark figure on the dip and packing and shipping. For shipping we use Fauna & Flora out of New York. Your average cost of shipping for 5 animals is about $500 to $600 per hunter. This can vary on size, and the time of year. Contact John Meehan jjmeehan@faunaandflora.com for more information on shipping your trophies back to the States. There are some animals that you will need special permits for, we will make sure you are covered for these in advance.
Dip and Pack of your trophies is done to get them back to your house or taxidermist of your choice. For example a Kudu will cost $100 for the cape, skull, and horns. An impala will cost $55. Remember these prices can vary and may go up a bit without us knowing it exactly. For information on doing taxidermy in Africa, and dip and pack you can contact Kevin Boucher at kevinandbasil@hotmail.com
For taxidermy you should find one that is comfortable with African Animals. We work with a very good taxidermist with good rates. We highly recommend using his services.
