The Common Duiker can go without drinking if its diet includes greens. It eats mostly leaves, herbs, fruit, seeds, and flowers. They appear to live in loosely associated, monogamous pairs. Males behave territorially, smearing gland secretions on stems, branches, and rocks, and depositing dung in middens; their preferred resting places (elevated ground, termite mounds) that overlook their territory. Females choose deeper cover. Active day and night, Common Duikers become more nocturnal near human settlements.
